Planning status: Aberewa Middle School is planning a phased opening serving up to 70 seventh-grade students. Enrollment remains contingent upon securing an appropriate facility, sustainable funding, qualified personnel, required approvals, and student-support systems.
The Seven-for-Seven Classroom Commitment
Each instructional group of up to seven students will have one educator responsible for instruction, progress monitoring, and collaboration, plus one paraprofessional supporting access, participation, regulation, communication, and classroom routines.

This model is intended for students with specific learning disabilities, autism, and other disability-related needs within the school’s demonstrated support capacity. Admission decisions will consider individual needs and available services rather than disability labels alone.
Phased Year One Growth
Stage 2 · Up to 49 students

Stage 3 · Up to 70 students
Ten instructional groups, requiring at least ten educators and ten paraprofessionals.
Advancement from one stage to the next will occur only when classrooms, funding, qualified staff, required services, and safe operating systems are in place. These figures cover direct classroom teams only; substitutes, related-service providers, counselors, nurses, behavior-support personnel, administrators, and operations staff must be planned separately.
A Cohort Model Designed for Continuity
Year One
The school plans to enroll only seventh-grade students, beginning in manageable stages and serving no more than 70 students. Every Aberewa student begins the program in seventh grade.
Year Two
The inaugural cohort advances to eighth grade while a new seventh-grade cohort may enter. If both cohorts reach 70 students, total enrollment would be approximately 140. There will be no direct eighth-grade entry.
This sequence supports relationships, shared routines, and individualized planning before the transition to eighth grade. Each new cohort and any future expansion will depend on demonstrated building capacity, staffing, funding, approvals, student outcomes, and the school’s ability to maintain its small-group commitment.
